George & Ruby Moxley Piano Scholarship Competition

Each Spring, the WSPTA has hosts its annual Moxley Competition. This competition  requires students to perform a piece from a list of required pieces, plus a piece of their choice. Students must also play scales and chords. The level of difficulty of the required pieces and technique increases with age.

 

A panel of three judges will rate each competitor on several criteria relating to their musicality and technical ability. There are first place, second place prizes for each different age group. One or more honorable mentions may also be awarded. The competition, as well as the subsequent Winners' Recital, are open to the public.

ELEMENTARY

1st Place: $70.00

2nd Place: $40.00

LOWER INTERMEDIATE

1st Place: $85.00

2nd Place: $60.00

​

UPPER INTERMEDIATE

1st Place: $100.00

2nd Place: $80.00

​

ADVANCED

1st Place: $125.00

2nd Place: $100.00
