Each Spring, the WSPTA has hosts its annual Moxley Competition. This competition  requires students to perform a piece from a list of required pieces, plus a piece of their choice. Students must also play scales and chords. The level of difficulty of the required pieces and technique increases with age.

A panel of three judges will rate each competitor on several criteria relating to their musicality and technical ability. There are first place, second place prizes for each different age group.
