Federico Pivetta

Federico Pivetta is a versatile pianist with a unique mastery of both classical and jazz styles. He was born in Italy and grew up in Venezuela immersing himself with all styles of music. An active accompanist, chamber musician and teacher, he has made numerous recital appearances with his wife, flutist Debra Reuter-Pivetta, and their CD, “Passion and Romance” has received numerous accolades. In 1999 they were winners of the Concert Artists Guild Competition, earning the Community Concerts Performance Prize. The year 2000 marked the beginning of an extensive concert tour across the United States. He has also accompanied renowned tenor saxophonist James Houlik in concerts throughout the United States, Caribbean, and Europe. His collaborations with various jazz groups have resulted in several radio and television appearances and many recording projects. Other highlights include performances with jazz greats Ernie Watts, Reggie Workman, Al Jarreau, Arturo Sandoval and many others. He also holds an endowed chair as the Contemporary Pianist for the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Pivetta is an active freelance musician and maintains a private teaching studio as well. Federico started his piano studies at 6 years of age and also attended the Conservatorio Jose Luis Paz in Maracaibo, Edo. Zulia from 1977 through 1980 and gained from the renowned teaching system in Venezuela called “El Sistema”. He also studied at the Berklee College of Music in the Summer of 1982 and received his Piano Performance degree at UNCSA in Winston Salem, NC where he studied under the late pianist Eric Larsen. He has also studied with Anne Epperson, Barbara Lister-Sink, Ron Rudkin and Ray Santisi. 


Both Federico and his wife Debi have been active volunteers for the Forsyth County Meals on Wheels program since 2008.
